I love the ocean, he loves the heat, I work in gardening, and designing, he is in construction, any info on job availability, wages, housing, crime, would help us make our decision! Also we both love having things to do, would like a fun, active, cultural city with lots of fun stuff!
Should my husband and I move to Phoenix or San Diego?
I'm from San Diego. You should look at how much you're willing to spend on housing. Mortgages are not cheap. There are places here that have crime problems (just like in any big city) but many that don't. It all depends on the neighborhood.
Reply:I live in Phoenix, it's pretty cool, but I definately I would go with San Diego if I could choose. Not so hot, and near the ocean.
Reply:That's something you and your husband should decide. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:San Diego , calling Phoenix an armpit would be kind
Reply:new york .
Reply:San Diego b/c you can have both the ocean and the heat. Although it's not nearly as hot as AZ, but if you live in an inland community like Escondido, El Cajon, Rancho Bernardo, ect.. it's get pretty hot there in summer, usually upper 80's to the 90's and 100's during a heat wave and you will still be within 20 minutes of the ocean.
The only advantage Phx has over SD is cheaper housing. Crime is much worse in Phx and wages are lower. Phx isn't exactly a cultural mecca either and their downtown is pathetic. There are so many more cultural attractions and things to do in SD, which is probably why 1/2 of AZ spends there summers in SD.
Reply:Its not of a flip of the coin, go to Surprise Arizona..
It is close to Phoenix , has pro baseball teams there, and the housing is cheaper with beautiful homes. Most of them have swimming pools. THe weather is nice year round so husband can work...
My son was there in construction and it is booming. He had to leave because my daughter in law had cancer and they needed to come to their family so they could be of comfort until she passed away.
It is close to many shopping malls and Mesa Arizona..
IT is not traffic jammed and there are a lot of nice schools, churches, and many activities for kids. NO GANGS ...like there are in California. Children are safer....
Go look it over and I think you would be pleased....
