My father runs his own company designing and manufacturing garden products (water pond features, animal shelters etc, see faunagarden.com). He does all the product designing, and would like to learn to design them on a CAD program. He does not have a lot of spare time. What software would you suggest, or would you suggest it is too much of a task for an already busy man with only moderate computer skills?
How difficult is it to learn and use CAD programs?
The actual software is quite easy to learn, there are a few simple commands on each programme that will let you draw lines and circles. The skill comes of course with drawing in a structured way and making the drawing tidy and clear.
I think that you can learn it ina couple of days work and moderate computer skills. Easier if you know in your mind what you want to draw - so easier if you are the designer.
The industry standard package is AutoCAD but that is quite expensive and there are cheaper packages that do the same thing.
Reply:they are actually easy to use, it would be very helpfull for him %26amp; a good selling tool.
