Solution to flood risk from stream levee or bund?

I live in a house on high land but next to a stream. The stream flows quickly but over the last few weeks there have been times I thought the house would flood. The house is detached and I have access all around it so rather than have a company fit expensive covers to the doors etc I thought I would be better protected by incorporating into the design of the garden an earth flood levee or bund.I have already arranged for a non return valve for the drain and sorting some flood gates for the drive but I cant find any advice or companies or web sites that deal with this.

Anyone help???........................please.

Hello,

You may contact these poeple and ask about similar solutions in your local area.

Operation/Maintenance of Flood Control Structures

Lower Trent Conservation has completed 16 flood control projects throughout the lower Trent region. The structures include the dam at Warkworth, flood walls, berms, weirs, and overflow channels. As some of these structures were constructed close to 20 years ago, a maintenance program and regular inspections are required to ensure that they are in good condition and continue to function as designed.

Best,

Isabel
