What is the industry standard program for architecture? Is it still AutoCad? I'm looking for a program that will let me design the interior and exterior of homes, as well as get blueprints from it. Currently I use the Better Homes and Gardens program just to play around with, but I've also used Maya and 3DSM, so I do have a grasp on the more "complex" programs. Cost really isn't an issue! I'm just trying to find the best program available for what I'm trying to do without having to resort to 4 different programs and then mesh it all together! Thanks!!
(Oh and I'm not an architect or interior designer! I'm in web and graphic design!)
I'm looking for a program that will do 3D interior design and architecture.?
AutoCAD is still being used, but it is not as popular as it once was. It is not very good for 3D development, either. Revit is being used by more and more firms. It is much better for 3D design, and it is very easy to use. Sketch-up is also a fairly common 3D program that is less technical. You can get free trials of both on line to try out.
Reply:Hello,
You can use AutoCAD 2008 or AutoCAD Architecture 2008 is what the industry standards are using universally, you can't go wrong. It solves all your problems in incorporating all of your design attempts into one gorgeous mesh. It has a 3D option as well as a visualization option, and a special new add on for revision and red marking between user groups, plus many more, too many to list entirely. In all, you won't feel sorry.

Reply:Adobe recently released two new versions of Photoshop CS3.
This is not to be confused with Adobe Elements. The more expensive of the two new CS3 versions, supports Medical and ARCHITECTURAL users. I'm a photographer, so, I won't be using it. If Photoshop is your cup of tea, you might start by checking out the NAPP web site at photoshopuser.com.
Reply:Currently it's either AutoCAD Architecture or Revit (from the same company who makes AC). Revit is oriented towards 3D drafting, AutoCAD is an all-around tool.
