What is a good gardening business to start?

I have no formal education but I do have a green thumb, an eye for design and I'm pretty crafty. In order to start a landscape business I think you really need to be a landscape architect. So hope someone can help!

What is a good gardening business to start?
Look into garden maintenance. Tending gardens for others night be a good niche to start and then look into installations (landscaping) as you go forward.

Good luck. Much hard work is before you.
Reply:It does help if you have a formal education in landscaping, but if doesnt really matter if you are an expert in the vocation. Getting a good name and creating a reputation for yourself is important.

To start with, gather as much information as you can on Landscape designs and plans.

Here is a website I've found, and could be of help...

Reply:Another gardening career is indoor plant leasing. Your crafting and design could come in very handy. There is a lot of money to be made in the leasing and maintenance of them. Study up on house plants and talk to offices in your area that might be interested. Good luck!
Reply:I'm a landscape architect but I decided I couldn't work in an office so I own a garden design, build and maintenance co. If I were you I'd consider starting small and sell what you know. Definitely read alot, become familiar with things such as pruning times for roses, evergreens, spring flowering shrubs, fruit trees etc., plant diseases, installation practices, soils. There really is quite a bit your customer will expect you to know (especially plants names and identifying problems ). Which is reasonable. Also consider begin with mowing lawns as it can lead to other jobs such as pruning etc.

Good Luck
